Peperomia angulata rocca scuro has creeping stems of dark green leaves striped in lighter green. The red stems add further interest and the plant looks fantastic left to creep along a shelf or trail from a hanging planter. It has a compact, spreading nature and is particularly suited to growing in low or fluorescent light, making it perfect for offices and shady spots. Radiator Plants are very much on trend and are very easy to look after.
Please note: the stems and leaves on this plant are very fragile and despite our best efforts some may be lost during transit.
Peperomia angulata – Beetle Radiator Plant Care & Info Guide
Horty Hints
How much is too much? This semi-succulent is sensitive to overwatering. Too wet and it will rot, too dry and it will die. When the soil has nearly dried out, give it a little drink.
And then there were many! When the stems become overly long, simply cut them back to the desired length with disinfected clippers. These cuttings can be placed in a glass of water or soil, eventually growing new plants.
Brighter isn’t always better! If the light is too bright, the deep green coloured foliage will fade. Move to a more shaded location to maintain the angulata’s strong colour.
Light
Fine in moderate light conditions and will tolerate shade. Avoid direct sunlight. They do really well under fluorescent lights, making them ideal for the office or basement flat.
Watering
Water when the soil has almost dried out. Do not overwater. Use soft water if possible and water from below. Water is stored in the leaves making these plants drought resistant.
Temperature
This Radiator Plant prefers average to warm temperatures from 18-24ยฐC but can cope with as low as 10ยฐC at a push. Avoid cold draughts.
Humidity
Peperomia enjoy raised humidity levels but most of the time they do just fine in normal household conditions. Consider misting occasionally.
Feed
Apply a half-strength balanced fertiliser once or twice during the growing season.
Height & Growth Rate
The Dark Green Beetle Radiator Plant is known to be slow-growing and typically reaches an ultimate height of around 20 to 30cm.
Toxicity
The Dark Green Beetle is considered non-toxic and is therefore safe around children, cats and dogs.
Origin
Peperomia angulata rocca scuro is native to Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean.
