Horty Hints
Keep it clean! Regular dusting of the plant’s leaves with a damp cloth will keep its pores open and able to photosynthesize.
High humidity, hun! This plant loves higher humidity levels. If you notice the browning of leaves, move to a more humid location or step up the misting.
Not so mellow yellow! The bottom leaves of the palm will naturally turn yellow as they age, however if newer leaves start yellowing the issue could be over watering or fungal. Research and revive.
Light
This plant will thrive in bright, indirect light and can tolerate direct sunlight.
Watering
Keep the soil moist with warm water at all times but not soggy, watering once or twice per week in the summer months. Do not over water.
Temperature
Above average household temperatures of 20 – 24°C. Will not tolerate temperatures below 18°C. Avoid cold draughts.
Humidity
Cocos Nucifera prefers increased humidity levels; Regular weekly misting will maintain plant appearance. Ideal for bathrooms and kitchens.
Feed
Liquid palm fertilizer can be applied occasionally during the growing season. Do not over-feed.
